Halloween QUICK BLAST 2023

Good Evening, My fine supine friend. Happy Halloween. Today I'd like to guide you down a little Halloween Path of Enlightenment. This quizzical survey will question your beliefs in the realm of spooky things, and test your faith in the world of the unknown. Strap in and grab your candy corn. It's spooky time! Now... First question. Are you someone that has considered the supernatural before?

Very interesting. Considering that, have you ever heard a spooky story in your life that gave you a running chill down your spine?

I see. Would you care to elaborate here a tinge? It doesn't need to be long, a short elaboration would be most enlightening. Though you may wish to keep it short indeed, as the night is fast approaching. It's almost time...

Well, well put, my friend. Well, indeed, for the night has arrived, and the spirit of the sporpus has come. It's coming up fast... It's the Halloween Quick Blast! It's time to ask what supernatural boggarts, hoodwinks and bibendums you believe in. This will definitely not be held against you, no sir. Are you ready for the bone zone?

Are you a believer in the idea of "a spirit", or a spirit realm?

Do you believe that things beyond our perception can affect the real world?

Now we move on to the QUICKER BLAST! Do you believe in Spirits?

Do you believe in things appearing or disappearing "out of thin air"?

Do you believe in "premonitions"? Things with meaning that foreshadow something else in your life?

Sasquatch, colloquially known as "Bigfoot", is a hypothesis that a primate exists in the desolate reaches of North America with an almost supernatural ability to avoid detection to remain in its habitat far away from humans. What are your thoughts on Bigfoot? Considering it's a relatively new phenomenon reported, why do you think it is so hard to prove that Bigfoot exists, considering our modern day technology?

"Hairy Man" Pictographs from the year 1000 AD in the Tule River Indian Reservation in California, who referred to them as "wood people", or sasquatch. Skookum, Chiye-tanka (Elder Brothers), Pukwuji (man of the forest) Nyuvunwi (Stone Giant) etc.

Indeed. We only have a little ways to go, but it doesn't mean we're getting less weird now! Since even biblical times, tales have persisted of beings that rise from their resting place and seek the blood of the living to persist evermore. Do you believe in Vampires?

Do you believe the world governments have anything to do with creating, faking, or a mix of both, for paranormal phenomena?

In the 1970s, the US successfully created the first genetically modified creature with a mouse that had completely artificial dna genomes. In the 80s they created labs in Puerto Rico, New Mexico, Arizona, New Hampshire, and abroad. Since that time, we have created yellow pigs that have lungs, kidneys, livers and hearts genetically similar to humans, along with splicing dna to partially recreate extinct species. Do you believe any mysterious creatures that are reported through the ages may be attributable to human interference or manipulation?

Do you believe in The Chupacabra, the creature reported to have terrorized livestock in the island nation of Puerto Rico, devoid of large predators??

Do you believe in lake/river monsters, like Nessie, Mokele Mbembe, and other "lost dinosaurs?"

Very intriguing! Yes, this has been an excellent night of wonder... My friend, the time is coming to a close between us. Only a few remain. Let's try to wrap this spooky time up... As we've seen, sometimes these spooks are more believable than others. Some stories are too large to be true, while others are left with room to be plausible. Do you believe that these mysterious oddities of our world, whether they be mystery beings, alternate places or realities, or forces.. Perhaps they are all linked?

Perhaps that was a bit obtuse. Maybe the idea is too complex and hairbrained for this time we've shared. Let's try and reel it back... To simpler things... Considering we're here to celebrate Halloween, what is your favorite thing about it?

That's a great choice! That's probably my favorite if not for, the costumes. The outfits we wear. The idea that we can adopt the spirit of another, take form of that which inspires us, whether it be through adoration or fear; through incantation or a trip to Sears; to adopt a new form, to interact with the world in a way that suits our fancy. But only for one fateful night. What inspired us to do this thing, in all our cultures? It leaves me with a sense that perhaps, in some way, there's something out there, that may want to do the same; only it's not so keen on limiting its' pleasure to a simple day. Perhaps, we and what we fear are not so unalike. Who truly knows what exists in dark corners of eerie places, just out of sight, out of mind, until we cannot possibly hope to ignore them anymore. Perhaps, my friends, the time we spend reveling in the darkness weakens that which we once feared. Or perhaps, it simply resides within us, where we fear to look most of all. We are the costumes we wear until we are compelled to reveal our true selves.
