Who knows who?

Before we see the results.........Why AKKF?
"I am from a family where mental illness was definitely present but was always something not to be spoken about or discussed, but when I look back, I can definitely see how much of an impact in the childhood of myself and my siblings. And when I became a teacher, I was always conscious of children from similar backgrounds such as police kids who were often overlooked because they were quieter in class and didn't necessarily cause as much of a fuss. I think having the opportunity to work with Kookaburra Kids is more like having the chance to make sure that all young people living in families with mental illness have the opportunity to be seen and heard in a way that they don't really ever have the opportunity to do so anywhere else''
''I love working in Mental Health and feel that children and Adolescents are at such a great age to build resilience and other various coping strategies.''
''I have seen and experienced the impact mental illness has on kids and the lack of help available in society so wanted to work in an organisation providing actual, accessible relief in such kids’ lives, and for a lovely team.''
''To drop the stigma of mental health problems by letting young people talk freely in a safe space. ''
''My passion for making a safe space for YP.''
''I have worked in the mental health system for 20 years and not much has changed in terms of stigma, access and psycho education. Over the years the difference that myself and my amazing colleagues have made to families lives has given me the passion and satisfaction to keep working hard on making bigger and better changes. Starting with the kids earlier, preventing mental illness, helping normalise and building skills where we can make a genuine difference to people’s lives and futures!''
