In the novel, the Dauntless initiates must go through something called a fear landscape. In this fear landscape, they are forced to go through a simulation full of all of their biggest fears. If you were to go through your very own fear landscape, which of these could be one of the main fears?

I probably wouldn't have many fears, but if I were to, it would probably have something to do with lacking control in a situation or not being able to fight back.

My main fear would definitely somehow involve being selfish in some way and putting myself before others.

My main fear would involve having to lie - I am a terrible liar.

One of my biggest fears involves not being able to think and use my knowledge (or having to be rushed) in a stressful situation.

It would probably involve having to hurt other people or be unkind to them in some way.

Now, for the second half of the test. These next few questions will take you through the aptitude test that Beatrice (Tris) took in the beginning of Divergent. The only difference is that you get to make your own decisions and choices.

When you open your eyes, you find yourself in an empty school cafeteria. In front of you, on a table, are two baskets. One of the baskets has a chunk of cheese in it, while the other has a large knife in it. You have to choose one, or neither. Which will you choose?

I would automatically choose the cheese. Who would choose the knife?

I would automatically choose the knife. The cheese just seems pointless.

I wouldn't choose either.

You hear a door creak open and see a dog, snarling and growling, slowly walking towards you. What will you do?

Since I chose the cheese, I will use it as a distraction for the dog while I run away.

Since I chose the knife, I will attack the dog with it, then run.

Since I chose neither, I will have to use my existing knowledge of dogs. Since I know that staying calm and kneeling down is a sign of submission, I do exactly that, and the dog eventually relaxes as well.

This question is ONLY for if you chose neither and decided to use your previous knowledge of dogs. While you're petting the now calm dog, a little girl walks into the room, running towards the dog to pet it. The dog tenses up, ready to attack. What do you do?

I decide to throw myself at the dog to try and stop it from attacking the girl.

I choose instead to take this as an opportunity to run and leave.

You blink and see that your surroundings have changed. You are now standing, holding on to a pole, in a packed bus. When you look beside you, you see an intimidating looking man reading a newspaper. He looks up and asks if you know the man on the front of the newspaper who is a murderer. You recognize the person. What do you do? Do you lie and act like you don't know the murderer, or do you tell the truth?

I would definitely tell the truth, even if it could lead to negative consequences.

I would lie and pretend like I didn't know him. It's not worth risking negative consequences for.
