I see my birthday, opening presents with speed and excitement

I see my childhood friends, playing with them in a game of tag

I see the moment I received my Merrymore letter, excitement to learn building within me

I see myself being picked for a team, one I never thought I'd make it into

The orb shifts a reddish colour and memories flood forward again, this time one of sadness

I see myself alone, my friends had gone on without me

I see myself failing at something I worked towards, no matter how hard I worked it never worked out

I see myself sat on a stool, someone putting a plaster on a wound I got from climbing too high in a tree

I see myself crying, something I wanted to happen didn't and I felt distressed by this

The orb sparks blue, a moment of magical ability!

I see myself accidentally casting my first spell, blowing something nearby to pieces

I see myself squeezing my eyes shut as a toddler and floating a few inches off the ground

I see myself practicing a spell over and over from a book I found in my parent's cupboard, finally getting some sparks to fly

I see myself watching magic, wishing I could do such magical feats

The orb shifts again, golden this time, you can't make it out but you swear there was a glimpse of something

A wand perhaps? Something magical surely

Was it a finger? A hand reaching towards me?

A root of a tree? Something growing, natural and stretching

A blade? The handle of a sword perhaps? A weapon to be sure

The orb falls dark and you see your reflection in its glassy surface, what do you see?

One final burst of light forms in the orb, a white burst of light. You feel something inside you, what is it?

Purpose

The orb falls dark and lifeless again, all but a faint hum vanishes from the room. It has made its decision, a colour begins to form in its mists and an animal leaps forward.
