Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) is the transfer of static electricity from one object to another.

There can be damaging electrostatic discharges that a person cannot detect.

ESD will never cause catastrophic failures.

A person should be grounded when handling ESD sensitive components.

Wrist straps only need to be checked annually.

Unprotected ESD sensitive components are susceptible to latent failure.

You may use isopropyl alcohol to clean ESD sensitive components.

You must place ESD awareness labels on known sensitive equipment.

Only one wrist strap test is required, regardless of how many different people use it.

ESD work stations do not need to be tested.

When installing protective caps to ESD sensitive components, it is important to equalize yourself to the component being capped first.

Your body can generate up to 35,000 volts and it takes as little as 25 volts to destroy some microcircuits.

Intermittent failure is not a concern for ESD sensitive components.
