VR Conversion of flat videos.

Do you prefer VR180 or 3D SBS?
VR180, screen is "baked" but no adjustment needed.
3D SBS, flexible, but requires you to set screen distance yourself to reduce distortion.
I don't care, I just want more VR/3D content.
When converting a video to 3D, the closer the scene is, the more depth is required to get the right scaling of depth and size. But also, a closer scene has more distortion and is more challenging. That's the trade-off.
In contrast, the 3D effect for watching a 3D movie at the theater is a lot easier, but the scene is huge and far away.

What 3D effect is best?
I want objects popping out as much as possible and close to my face, I don't care if it creates distortion.
I want some popping out effect, but 1 meter distance away from me is fine.
I am sensitive to any distortion or artefact in the image. I'd prefer less 3D effect, but a clean image, screen far and big like going to the cinema.
