round five - build or break your score with the wipe-out round - every wrong answer gets you minus three points.

Round 4 On this day in history (10/11 April) a few things have happened:
The eruption of Mount Tambora was the largest eruption ever witnessed. Its Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) was 7, the only known eruption on that scale since the eruption of Lake Taupo in about 180 AD. The eruption blew 150 cubic km into the atmosphere, killing 10,000 people initially. The eruptions' column was so high it reached the stratosphere at an altitude of more than 43 kilometres.
The effects were felt worldwide, 1816 was "the year without a summer". Crops failed across Asia and up to 90,000 people probably died of famine.
That's your fun fact for this week. Moving on to more pressing matters and to just focus on the last eight decades 1950’s – 2020’s we have a piece of information and a number one song of this day from each decade, but what was the song, who sang it and what was the year? – NB no decades are repeated.

Table rounds
OK Lets get down to it. This section is what we usually have as a table round - but hey it's all table today so we'll just call it the next bit.
T2: Interesting - but what is it?
Bismuth | Carbon | Copernicium | Gallium | Silicon | Ununbium | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
This is a soft metal sometimes used in electronics. What’s amazing is that it will safely melt in human hands and then re-solidify once it drops back below its melting point. | ||||||
This is a highly radioactive element that is a metal, but – get this – it’s a gas at room temperature. It also decays extremely quickly, which makes it difficult for scientists to study. | ||||||
This was created in 1996 by combining two other elements together. It belongs to a class of elements on the periodic table that were all created the same way (by combining two elements together). None of these elements has ever been observed for longer than a fraction of a second at a time. | ||||||
This is the heaviest non-radioactive metal and is commonly used in medicine and cosmetics. It’s also diamagnetic, which means that if you place a magnet between two pieces, it will levitate indefinitely. | ||||||
This is found in all computer chips and most electronics and is also the most common component of sand. It is largely responsible for the technological revolution we’ve been experiencing over the course of the past three decades. | ||||||
It is the most necessary element for life. It is in everything and comprises 20 percent of the weight of all living organisms. The universe would not exist without carbon. |
T3. Famous Quotes...from famous films. Just match them up!

"They're here!" | |
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make." |
