There are two main types of probation : Formal and Informal

The word probation is derived from probatum, Spanish for the act of proving.

Probation is a trial period that must be completed before person receives greater benefits or freedoms.

There is a set time for probation; it does not vary

Violation of probation is a serious offense and may result in additional jail time
