Each deck of Top Trumps cards revolves around a specific theme, which can range from animals and cars to superheroes and historical figures. The cards feature individual items or characters within the chosen theme, and each card has several statistics or attributes associated with it.

During gameplay, players take turns comparing the values of a chosen statistic on their card with the corresponding statistic on their opponents' cards. The goal is to have the highest value in that particular category, such as speed or strength, and "trump" the opponent's card. The player with the highest value wins the round and collects all the played cards. The game continues until one player possesses all the cards in the deck.
