How has integration as a service changed from 2010 to 2023?

It still remains the same. Routing, transformation, protocol interconnectivity, reusable services remains the core.

It has to provide self serviced, pattern oriented service allowing quick integration flows without business logic placement.

It's wildly different. It used be all ESB, SOA and microservices and now it's all iPaaS this and microservice that with loads of dashboards and analytics information.

Microservices with business logic is no longer welcome in Integration. Its only dumb pipes we love.

What should Integration as a platform/service provide?

Transformation from one data format to other without embedding any Business logic

Why is streaming data important for RMG?

All the cool kids are doing it.

Real time data from various sources requires us to move away from traditional HTTPS, AMQP and FTP protocols. Allows us to ingest and publish large volumes of data across PE and DAI ensuring right data reaches the right platform.

Lets just use APIs. We have pretty developer portal for it.

What does integration in RMG lack?

Adaptability against new technologies and connectors

It follows a straight interface definition, mapping document and delivery through waterfall model. Quite strict about it.

It is not in the BUDGET!!! Central financial bucket to allow innovation.

Traceability, observability and adaptability.

A nice team name. BIG just shows lack of imagination just like integration in general.

How is integration adapting to new age of user/system/service specific content delivery?

Investment into cloud native services and moving away from custom builds.

Right tools for right purpose and bag of money to achieve it.

Consolidation of technology stack across delivery groups instead of 80 odd technologies currently in use with a handful of SMEs per technology.
