3. A 220V, 5.2kW series DC motor is coupled to a fan. The armature coil resistance is 0.6Ω and the stator winding resistance is 0.4Ω. The motor draws 25A when driving the fan at 300 RPM. Calculate the efficiency (%) of the motor. Give your answer with 2 decimals
4. Calculate the output voltage Vo corresponding to the binary input: 0110

5. Consider a capacitor consisting of two parallel conductive plates in parallel. Each conductive plate has a width w of 0.1 m and length of 0.5 m. The distance d between the two plates is 0.1 m. The relative permeability of the dielectric εr is 1. Given that the permittivity of free space εo is 8.854 x 10-12 F.m-1:
- Determine the capacitance of this device.
- If the overlap of the plates is reduced by moving one plate horizontally a distance x of 50 mm, determine the new value of capacitance.

6. Our lifting machine consists of a motor, a gearbox with efficiency of 72% and a gear ratio equal to 6 and a shaft of 120mm diameter with a rope around it. In order to lift an object of 130kg the motor rotates with 420 rpm. Calculate the velocity of the object as it’s moving upwards as well as the torque of the motor.

7. A thermal engine consists of two Carnot engines M1 and M2 with the cold container of the one being the hot container of the other. If T1 = 1000K and T3 = 300K calculate the efficiency (in %) of this complex thermal engine.

Calculate the distance of the satellite from the surface of the earth in order to be in that orbit. Give your answer with 2 decimals and as a product of 107 .
10. A strain gauge bridge has a strain gauge of resistance R = 200 Ω and a gauge factor G of 1.9. R2, R3 and R4 are fixed resistors also rated at 200 Ω. The strain gauge is bonded to an object to detect movement. It experiences a tensile strain of 400 microstrain (με) due to the displacement of the object.
- Determine the change in resistance ∆R [Ω] of the strain gauge. (3 decimals)
- Also, if the input voltage Vi is 4V then determine the change in output voltage ∆Vo [mV]. (2 decimals)
