What makes tabletop wargames fun?

Complex game that requires thought and strategy

Rolling Dice for outcomes

Defeating your opponent by superior strategy and list building

Do you look up lists or try to make something yourself?

I only look up lists, I am too dumb to think for myself

I look up lists to compare myself to others and tweak my list as needed

I take feed back in person from others or absorb ideas for lists, but do not seek them out per se.

I exclusively build lists myself and never look at other lists

I look at other peoples lists to do the opposite, to see if that works

Are the decisions in a game more/equal/less fun than the decisions made prior to the game in building your list?

Decisions during the game are not as fun as the ones in list building

Decisions during the game are about equally as fun to make as the ones during list building

Decisions during list building are all that matters and the only reason I play is to show my dominance in list building

I just kind of throw shit together and hope it works, I just play for fun and am not competitive at all

How important is customizing your units to you? I.e. Giving them different loadouts with gear and weapons to make them suit me.

How important is it to you that your units have different special rules than the units of other factions?

What do you prefer most, unit wise, infantry/light vehicles/heavy vehicles/artillery/weapon teams or something not listed?

When playing a tabletop wargame, when it comes to things within the game and outside of the game (score and other point values), how many things to keep track of is too many?
