History of maths / history of science lectures, Lent Term

We have 7 weeks of strike action by the UCU ahead of us, 18 days all told, and I'd like to know what you want us to do about history of maths and history of science lectures during these 7 weeks (effectively, the rest of Term). Here are some options as to what we should do on strike days ... On non-strike days I presume we will have both Zoom and lectures face-to-face in the CMS. So what do you think we should do? Please choose Yes or No to each option.
I would appreciate it if only those who are in Cambridge and attend F2F lectures complete this poll; if you are on the mailing list and don't attend my lectures, or you are not in Cambridge and necessarily only attend online, the question of students and their respect for the Dons' strike are not particularly issues that you need to be concerned about. And, obviously, please be sensible about completing the poll; filling it in multiple times, or answering 'yes' to every option, or 'no' to every option is neither very clever nor helpful.
I think that whatever you vote for and we choose, I am going to suggest that we re-visit this decision in a couple of weeks and see what people would like to do. Trying to sort out when you come in to the CMS may just be too much hassle, or your sensibilities about crossing picket lines may increase or decrease.

1. Cancel all lectures (12 lectures on two courses would be cancelled) which will have the consequence of pretty much ruining the courses; there won’t be time (and you won’t have the energy) to make up most of the lost lectures. You lose out on lectures and fun, and the government and university don’t give a damn.
Yes
No
2. Do nothing, and carry on as normal without regard to the strike; students who wish to avoid a picket line can watch online and I will give the usual face-to-face lectures on Zoom from the CMS. In effect, you undermine the strike action of the faculty (which may be pretty half-hearted anyway) and just choose - as you already can - to attend F2F or online.
Yes
No
3. Cancel the effected F2F lectures in a university building, and have online and F2F lectures in a College room or similar building that is not subject to picketing action … if such a location can be found! I would imagine that we are not the first to think of this solution, and it might be that College lecture rooms and spaces have all been booked up. The HoMSoc people are examining this.
This will place a burden of changing locations on us, which some of you may find difficult to manage. Watching lectures on Zoom should continue to be an option as usual. Morally pure, because you don’t cross any picket line, but depends if we can find free accommodation for the rest of Term and you can manage different locations for lectures. Requires flexibility and some commitment.
Yes
No
4. Cancel all effected F2F lectures, and I’ll just give strike-day lectures on Zoom from my video studio at home (what was, pre-pandemic, my living room). This will involve no use of any University buildings or any other University resources. Thus nobody with any hesitancy about picket lines and participation in university activities need feel disadvantaged. The lectures will otherwise be as normal.
You already have a no-social-contact option with the live streamed lectures, so this will just mean everyone goes live stream on strike days, and I stay at home and give lectures in my Zoom shirt and pyjama bottoms & slippers, and no, I will not stand up in the lecture to show you my PJs. Also morally pure, no picket lines to worry about, and you can watch the lectures wherever you want if you have laptop and wi-fi. Lowest energy alternative.
Yes
No
5. Give up F2F for the rest of Term, and just go Zoom for the rest of Term. Possibly a lower energy alternative to (4) above, but means we just go virtual, which may not be what people want. Easier because you don't need to pay attention to strike days and remember where, if anywhere, lectures will be. If there’s a massive vote in favour of this option, I’m sure we will organise more socials so those of us in Cambridge can at least see each other.
