To support increased equity, access, and representation in outdoor education, the Adirondack Mountain Rescue Team is offering a limited number of full scholarships to members of underrepresented communities for our 2022 Ice Axe and Crampon Basics Trainings. These trainings are part of our Preventative Search and Rescue (PSAR) efforts and will be held in Saratoga Springs, Syracuse, and Lake Placid.

Additionally, all awardees will be invited to attend 1 of 2 available free, guided, winter peak hiking days with AMR’s President and NYS licensed guide, Katie Rhodes. Guided days will include free rental ice axes/crampons and will be held in the Adirondack High Peaks where you can put your ice axe and crampon skills to use.

This scholarship is intended for members of the Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities, members of the LGBTQIA+ communities, adaptive folks, and others in underrepresented communities in the outdoors.

Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. You will receive a response from the scholarship committee as soon as your application has been reviewed.

If your application is accepted, we will contact you about which training sessions are available to join. Even if a session is listed as sold out online, we have reserved spaces for scholarship awardees.
