No, I do not believe the main idea was effectively communicated. I didn’t like the woman. She was pessimistic about her lover’s abilities, and did not seem very encouraging. The reader is disinclined to desire to see her “eternized” through poetry.
No, I do not believe that the main idea was effectively communicated. If the poet wanted to immortalize his lover, why would he not state her name? For all purposes, she is still obscure and unknown to readers. It seems counterintuitive to say you will make someone immortal by writing about them and then never mention their name.

No, I do not agree that poetry or any written word is the best way to make one immortal and famous. Poetry, for one, is among the least popular forms of literature and no one reads it. I know I never read poetry until this program, and had no idea who Edmund Spencer was. Therefore, it makes no sense to try and be remembered through poetry.
No, I do not agree that poetry or any written word is the best way to make one immortal and famous. Not everyone has the luxury of having their poetry widely read, and if no one reads the poetry you write about a person, doesn’t that defeat the purpose? Nonetheless, even poetry of famous writers is eventually forgotten and becomes lost in time. There are very few people reading the poetry by Edmund Spencer these days in comparison to all the other literature available to people. Therefore, it is difficult to say if Edmund Spencer has continued to accomplish his purpose as stated in the poem.
