Which housing plan for the homeless do you prefer?
Convert existing government properties and incentivize the private sector to develop "Mini-Home" apartment complexes. "Mini-Homes" are cheap, single-studios which will house the homeless. Tenants will be required to sho proof of employment or looking for employment and a portion of their salaries will be used to pay for housing. There will be on-site supportive services and on-site mental and health counselors.
Allow closed hotels and city office buildings to create SROs (Single Room Occupancy) and basement apartments which are affordable and cheap to develop. Since SROs and basement apartments are both currently illegal in NYC, changes in the city's housing regulations will have to be made. Focus will also be on housing prices by increasing rent subsidies and fine-tuning rent-relief programs
Which change to NYC public transportation would you most like to see implemented?
Adding 4,500 uniformed and 500 undercover police officers to patrol the subway and moving subway cars
Adding 500 MTA officers to prevent fare evasion
Reopening closed subways
Better access to bikes and e-scooters in places with less transportation options
Should certain “manufacturing zones” be removed to allow more housing development?
Yes
No
Should NYC up-zone/increase housing density of wealthier areas of the city?
Yes, up-zoning wealthier areas would decrease housing costs of lower income areas by preventing higher-income people from moving into poorer areas and increasing rent
No, we should up-zone lower income areas to create larger amounts of affordable housing for those in need
Which NYCHA reform is most needed?
Housing superintendents and maintenance workers will be required to live on the premises of the housing complex of NYCHA residents
A Work Probation Program that would allow residents on probation to be employed in or near the NYCHA complex. After serving their probation, the resident would not need to present their criminal record to future employers.
Sell NYCHA air rights (sell property above NYCHA conplexes) to provide money to NYCHA tenants to repair buildings
Improve transparency and accountability in NYCHA agencies on how money is spent on buildings.
Would you cut back the amount of urban highways and replace them with public park space?
Yes
No
