The research project is intended to provide the research focus for a module which forms part of my degree. The data will be compiled and used in a research study that will form the backbones of a design project for a men’s jewellery retail space. Total anonymity will be maintained throughout the research. It will attempt to gain an understanding of the jewellery market; why is the current market being focused on females, the current trend of men being more comfortable to express themselves through jewellery, and the modern need for a male focused jewellery space. You have been chosen to provide your insight of the current jewellery market as well as your own opinion and experiences with men’s jewellery and whether you want to see a dedicated men’s jewellery store on the modern high street.

The definition of genderless jewellery differs from individual to individual; it can mean gender neutral jewellery, it could mean men can be more comfortable wearing jewellery that was once seen as feminine such as necklaces and bracelets, or simply the idea that jewellery has no gender and can be worn by anyone in any style.

With that in mind, what does genderless jewellery mean to you? Do you think jewellery should be genderless and if so to what extent? Please explain.
