If you’re a World War II junkie, or just love history in general, you’ll be head over heels for Kanchanaburi. As you’ve probably figured out, Kanchanaburi is most famous for it’s impressive World War II history, most notably from the building of Death Railway. It’s dark name was given due to being built under Japanese occupation using prisoners of war labor, and many of these prisoners died due to diseases or accidents associated with the railway. But aside from the dark past, the city offers plenty of cultural activities, beautiful temples, and 7-tiered waterfalls you can visit. A perfect day trip from Bangkok
