2017-2018 Student Council Election - Class of 2018
President - Choose 1
Cameron Vayansky - I'm running for President or to be a representative on student council because I’ve been on council for the past 3 years and feel that I’m a great leader and peer role model along with that I’ve been apart of the youth leadership council for me the past 2 years and have participated in numerous activities that have expanded my leadership skills. I’m also the current vice president of YLC and the president of the Junior class and successfully planned after prom for the upcoming year. I’m looking for more participation in student government and somehow benefitting the school in a positive way. I’d be sure to meet the students needs/ expectations and give people the school they deserve.
Shelby Graham - I am running for a student government position because I understand the responsibilities of senior class president . I will be able to commit to these responsibilities because I will have more time this upcoming year since I have lessened my activities. I will be able to represent my fellow classmates because I have been and am currently in multiple activities, including swim team, volleyball, band, drama, student council, and National Honor Society. I associate and reach out to people in all three core areas: athletics, academics, and arts.
Vice-President - Choose 1
Amara Cummins - I am running for a student government position because I feel that I am leader within our community. I am honest, trustworthy, and dependable. Serving on student council the past three years as well as participating in National Honor Society this past year has allowed me to grow my leadership skills. I believe that I am capable of representing my classmates in a way that would allow them to share their opinions about the school. This is what Student Council is about and I feel that I can accurately speak for the rest of my class.
Sydney Houdeshell - I am running for a student government position because I like having the opportunity to better the environment around me and improve the school by implementing programs and aesthetic and academic changes. I will represent my fellow classmates by asking for their feedback and using everything in my power to bring them the change they want. I am trustworthy and demonstrate leadership, making me a good candidate for student council.
Secretary - Choose 1
Jenna Chorpenning - I am running for student government position because I want to help Lakewood become a better place to go to school. I want to create better opportunities student body. I think that the students enjoy the events that the student council hosts (powderpuff, winter formal, the talent show) and I want to continue to have them. I also hope to help the positivity of our school. In the past, our blood drives have been a very successful part of student council so I hope to continue them as well.
Makenna Riley - I will be the best secretary. I will seal envelopes, won't delete any emails, and will answer all calls. Let me know how you want the school to change and I will relay the message.

As part of several updates to the building, Lakewood High School will have a new student center beginning next year. This center will be located where the 1st floor locker bay is currently, and will include the Guidance and Get On Track! offices, a conference room, and a student lounge area. Since this is a center for the students, it is fitting that students have the privilege of choosing the center’s name. What would you like to name the new student center?
