According to the literature, ‘lean supply chain’ refers to the supply chain working at its optimum, supplying goods or products to the end consumer in the most efficient way possible with minimal waste, loss, and with the flexibility to adapt to unexpected delays. Due to Brexit, do you think lean supply chain has been impacted by the delays at the border? If so, please elaborate why you think this.

In response to the proposed challenges that the delays at the border have created for the UK automotive industry supply chain, what solutions may be implemented to reinforce resilience throughout the supply chain and counteract the negative impacts of Brexit?

According to the literature there are two main costs that have had major impacts on the UK automotive industry since the UK left the EU; these are the cost of customs documents and the cost of tariffs that must be paid when importing and exporting goods. How big of an impact and challenge do you think this has been on the UK automotive industry in terms of costs to the business?
